This lovely blend with dominant pinot noir is made of grapes from grand cru and premier cru villages in Montagne de Reims, Côtes des Blancs and the Marne valley. Vinification takes place in stainless steel, part of the wine receives malolactic fermentation. Then the campagne is allowed a long aging time in cellar on its lees: this is a wonderfully aged champagne from a relatively cool vintage year.
Growing season 2008 started off chilly, but a sunny not too hot summer offered grapes wonderful ripening changes. Relatively cool 2008 is considered one of the best vintage years in the new millennium.
On the nose orange zest and bread dough, in the flavor ripe yellow fruit with lots of freshness. A great glass now, this champagne may be given extra aging in the bottle as well.
