Vintage 1985 Cristal jeroboam (3 liter)
Vintage 1985 Cristal jeroboam (3 liter)
It was the Russian czar Alexander II who requested maison Roederer in 1875 to produce his favorite champagne in a colorless bottle with a flat bottom: as the story goes, he enjoyed watching the bubbly content, and had a fear of an assassination attempt through explosives in a bottle. For Roederer this was the beginning of a success story: ever since, Cristal is the maison's top cuvee, produced only in very good vintage years. Made for a larger audience a few decades later, Cristal is still one of the most celebrated names in Champagne. In all these years, the looks of the bottle haven't changed.
Cristal is made of very ripe pinot noir and chardonnay from Roederer's best vineyards, and is allowed six years of aging in cellar.
Cristal 1985 in jeroboam has lots of complex aromas: white fruit, candied citrus, toasted nuts. Wonderful finish.
