Vintage 2016 Clos de Maladries
East of Avize Étienne Calsac's grandfather planted the vineyard Les Maladries in the seventies. The name is from the Middle Ages, when victims of the plague were isolated here, on a distance from the city center. In this walled vineyard Calsac uses a horse for the plowing work.
Chardonnay grapes ferment partly in stainless steel partly in used oak, malolactic fermentation is allowed. This champagne stays on its lees for three years.
