La Grande Dame 2012 artist giftbox Yayoi Kusama
During her life madame Clicquot, a young widow who took over her late husband's business in 1805, was called 'La Grande Dame de la Champagne'. This headstrong business woman built the company we now know from the bright yellow labels.
The top cuvee is a hommage to this lady: a vintage champagne in a special bottle and pretty packaging. A pinot noir based champagne made of grapes from grand cru vineyards.
Artist Yayoi Kusama created the edition of La Grande Dame 2012. Born in Japan, Yayoi received worldwide fame with colorful sculptures and installations in which polka dots are a recurring theme. Exuberant flowers and dots - a reference to the bubbles ín the bottle - in Clicquot colored yellow, brighten up La Grande Dame 2012. Not just a wonderful champagne but an artistic collector's item in itself.
Growing season 2012 started off as a challenge, with frost, hail and lots of rain, yet a warm summer and sunny August and September turned things around. 2012 is considered a very good year, the vintage champagnes are great to drink now.
Blossom, ripe yellow fruit, dried fruit, hazelnut: this champagne has lovely complex aromas. An elegant champagne: enjoy it now, or allow it some extra aging time.
