Coteaux champenois Hommage a Camille 2018 blanc
Between 1932 and 1975, widow Camille Olry-Roederer not only controlled the production of champagne, she also insisted on still wine being made. For personal use: she liked to surprise her dinner guests with it. Her great grandson and current ceo of the historical family domain, Frédéric Rouzaud, has fond memories of that tradition. To honor this special lady, he decided, in close collaboration with cellar master Jean Baptiste Lécaillon, to launch two still wines for a wider audience.
This white coteaux champenois is made of chardonnay grapes from the vineyard Les Volibarts in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. One third of the grapes received skin maceration; after fermentation the wine aged for 15 months on its lees, partly in inox, partly in sandstone vats and partly in French oak barrels.
Hommage a Camille blanc is a lively, fresh and elegant still white wine.
