History

Born in 1777, Nicole-Barbe Ponsardin ended up in the champagne world through her marriage. Her father-in-law, Philippe Clicquot, had founded the Clicquot champagne house. After the death of her husband, she took over the company in 1805 as a young widow, Veuve Clicquot. She has made the winery world famous. Thanks to Madame Clicquot, the house has produced a number of famous champagnes, including the "yellow label" and the "rose".

Vintage champagne of Veuve Clicquot

Vintage champagne is a term used for champagne made from grapes from one harvest year. Veuve Clicquot has been producing vintage champagnes since 1810. The house is known for the quality of its vintage champagnes. The 2010 Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin Brut vintage champagne was rated with 100 points by Robert Parker. This is the first time that a champagne house received such a high score from Parker.

Veuve Clicquot produces approximately 2 million bottles of champagne per year. The house has a number of vineyards in the Champagne region of France. The vineyards cover approximately 160 hectares. The Veuve Clicquot champagnes are made from Chardonnay grapes, Pinot Noir grapes and Pinot Meunier grapes.

As mentioned earlier, Veuve Clicquot is known for its classic and elegant champagnes. The champagnes have a ripe and fruity taste, are full of structure and have a powerful, long aftertaste.
